"Scheintod: When the Market Looks Alive but Isnt"

'2025-10-11'
Now Playing "Scheintod: When the Market Looks Alive but Isnt"

There we go…
After those massive dark-pool trades right at the recent top, we now know why they happened and who it was. And yes they were sells.
Last week, the megaphone told us something

The Big Ugly Chicken-Short has officially begun.

Market Analysis

Were still missing key data to calculate the daily SP500 Indicator properly.
But the weekly indicator is speaking loud and clear and not in a friendly tone:

  • a drop of 20 points since last week
  • a Bearish Impulse
  • the second massive Distribution in just six weeks

In The Calm Before the Storm, we warned that something was deeply broken bubbles waiting to pop. Since September, our indicator has been oscillating between extreme caution and all-clear bull, like a bipolar trading bot.

This whole sell-off was meticulously choreographed.
Apparently, somebody knew exactly what was coming otherwise those perfectly timed pre-sells right after every overnight rally would be hard to explain.

Strange sells happening after good News

Worthless Good News

Insiders were dumping into a perfectly staged parade of positive headlines, handing Tech shares to retail like candy at a parade.
After the spectacular bull run since March, this was the perfect exit straight from the Big Ugly Playbook.

MAG-10: Sell the Winners

The companies with the best headlines were the ones being sold the hardest.
The MAG-10 trend looks broken for now though its sitting on a decent support level.
If that level cracks, we could be looking at another 23 % downside.

The Magnificent 10 sold off until first support

Composite Risk Indicator

Since late September, our Composite Risk Indicator has been ticking up steadily.
Yesterday, it flipped to Caution.

This indicator measures perceived market risk which had been artificially suppressed since June.
The VIX had looked clinically dead (Scheintod) until it jolted back to life yesterday, closing above 20 for the first time in months.
YELLOW - The composite risk-indicator

Of course, the global economy can always be reshaped by a single tweet from the Big Duck,
but once markets wake up and actually perceive risk, any bullish reversal becomes wishful thinking.

And with gold breaking out to new all-time highs above $4,000 / oz, the market is sending a message that wont be silenced by 280 characters.

Outlook

  • The de-globalization trend triggered by Donald Trumps tariff wars is here to stay.
Its structurally damaging for global trade, yet ironically benefits some economies forced to diversify and rebuild industrial capacity.
The U.S. LEI (Leading Economic Index) continues to point downward,
while several EU economies are showing tentative upticks.

LEI - Leading Economic Indicator - USA LEI - Leading Economic Indicator - Germany

  • Emerging markets, like India, are on a completely different and far healthier trajectory.
LEI - Leading Economic Indicator - India

  • Even if U.S. equities have risen in nominal terms, the real gains vanish once you adjust for the depreciating U.S. dollar.
Long-term, Emerging Markets and the EU look like the smarter bets.
