How It Works
Quarterly Selection
Every quarter, all politicians are evaluated on their trailing 2-year performance. The top 20 become "active".
Trade Signal
When an active politician files a BUY (STOCK Act), it enters our pipeline. Filings can take up to 45 days.
Portfolio Entry
We enter on filing date + 1 business day at closing price. Position size from reported value range.
Exit Rules
Exit when politician sells same ticker, or after 252-day max hold. Open positions survive deactivation.
Trade Flow Example
No Lookahead Bias
At each quarterly evaluation, only trades with filing_date ≤ evaluation_date are visible. Politicians who become successful later cannot retroactively enter the portfolio for earlier quarters.
Rating Formula
Sigmoid-weighted, trade count penalty for <30 trades.
Portfolio Parameters
Politician Rotation
Politicians who improve over time are added to the active pool. Those who deteriorate are removed. Open positions from removed politicians stay in the portfolio until their natural exit (sell signal or max hold).
